If your company offers a relocation service, great! Take full advantage. If you are on your own, find a great REALTOR! Research the REALTOR online and interview them in person (if possible) or on the phone. You will need to be sure that you are comfortable with them and that you can trust and rely on them. Especially the agent helping you choose where to live. I can’t express how important it is to communicate what your wants and needs are to your agent. This is not the time to be shy. There will be times you’ll need to be blunt. If you’re working with a great agent, they can take it and probably will appreciate precise communication. If you physically go out to look for property and you find that the agent just isn’t a good fit, find another agent!
I’ve had people call me after being very frustrated with other agents. Sometimes it’s a personality conflict and sometimes the two parties just don’t understand one another. Whatever the reason, it’s important to find an agent you can communicate and get along with well. You will be intrusting them to lead you to and help you purchase a home, or sell the home your moving from.
